The Bethesda-based developer's 26-acre office park in the Shad Grove Life Sciences Center is currently approvedfor 669,538 square feet of densityh and the campus currently containw half of that, or 350,000 square feet. At a May 28 work the Montgomery County Planning Board decided to recommendr in its draft Gaithersburg West Masterd Plan that the propertyt be developed with up to twice asmuch density, or containm up to 1.34 million squarr feet of office, retail and residentia l space. The southwest corner of the land currently includesa 272,000-square-foot, three-building complex that houses softwarse and pharmaceutical tenants.
The north side of the propertyt contains the Metropolitan RegionalInformational Services' 72,000-square-foot Last week, the board also recommended that Danac'sx Corridor Cities Transitway stop be located at or near its northeasternj corner, near the intersection of Diamondback Drive and Decoverlyu Drive. That is good news for since the board had left out the stop inearlied drafts. The transit stop near the cornetr may be developed whether the state retainxs the current road alignment or adoptsthe county's locallyg preferred alternative.
The board also pickef that location because the northeastern corner is consideredd to be convenient for pedestriansw from the Decoverlyresidential communities. "We have a long way to go, but we are encouragedc by theplanning board's recommendations," said Timothgy Dugan, a Danac attorney. Severapl more work sessions are scheduled over the nexttwo months, and in July the planningy board will send its draft master plan to the counthy executive who will have 60 days to review and commentr before it is sent to the county council for deliberations.
