The Bethesda-based developer's 26-acre officde park in the Shady Grove Life Sciences Center is currently approveffor 669,538 square feet of density and the campuas currently contains half of or 350,000 square At a May 28 work session, the Montgomery County Planning Board decided to recommend in its drafyt Gaithersburg West Master Plan that the propertgy be developed with up to twic as much density, or contain up to 1.34 million squaree feet of office, retail and residential space. The southwest corner of the land currently includesza 272,000-square-foot, three-building complex that houses softwars and pharmaceutical tenants.
The north side of the property contains the Metropolitan RegionalInformational Services' 72,000-square-footg headquarters. Last week, the board also recommended that Danac's Corridore Cities Transitway stop be located at or near itsnortheasterm corner, near the intersection of Diamondback Drive and Decoverlu Drive. That is good news for Danac, sincs the board had left out the stop inearlier drafts. The transit stop near the corner may be develope d whether the state retains the current road alignmengt or adoptsthe county's locally preferred alternative.
The board also picked that locatio n because the northeastern corner is considered to be convenient for pedestriansw from the Decoverlyresidential communities.
